In the morning, you will be transferred from your Cairo hotel to Alexandria in a private A/C vehicle with your tour guide, driving about 3 hours to the Mediterranean coastal city. Begin by visiting the Catacombs of Kom El-Shuqqafa, a 2nd-century AD necropolis with three sublevels that blend Egyptian, Greek, and Roman elements, and considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages.

Continue to Pompey’s Pillar, dedicated to the Greco-Egyptian deity Serapis and the largest pillar of its kind built outside Rome and Constantinople. Then visit the Roman Amphitheater, a well-preserved marble theater that once seated 800 spectators, surrounded by Roman baths, villas, mosaic floors, and a pleasure garden.

Next, drive to the Citadel of Qaitbay, a 15th-century fortress on the Mediterranean coast, built on the exact site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Enjoy lunch at a seafood restaurant.

Then visit the Alexandria Library, a modern architectural landmark. You will have free time to enter the library (extra cost), and a local guide will show you around inside. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
