Itinerary

Day 1 :
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel for a tour of Islamic and Coptic Cairo. Begin at the Cairo Citadel of Saladin, a major medieval fortress with massive gateways, towers, and high walls. It is one of Cairo’s top attractions and the most famous non-Pharaonic site. Inside, visit the Mohamed Ali Mosque, built between 1830–1848 by architect Yousef Bushnak.

Continue to the Mosque and Madrasa of Sultan Hassan (1356–1363), known for its huge size and innovative design, commissioned by Sultan an-Nasir Hasan. Opposite stands the Al-Rifa’i Mosque, which houses the tombs of Imam Rifai, members of the Mohammed Ali dynasty (Sultan Hussein Kamel, King Fuad, King Farouk), and the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

Next, visit the Mosque of Ibn Tulun, the oldest mosque in the city and the largest in land area, built between 876–879 AD. Then see the Mosque of Amr ibn al-As, originally built in 641–642 AD as the first mosque in Egypt and all of Africa.

Continue to Coptic Cairo to visit the Hanging Church, one of Egypt’s oldest churches. Walk to Abu Serga (Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church), believed to be a place where the Holy Family stayed during their journey in Egypt. Then visit the Ben Ezra Synagogue, traditionally considered the site where baby Moses was found.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then head to Al-Muizz Street, one of Cairo’s oldest streets, stretching from Bab al-Futuh to Bab Zuweila—gates built in the 11th century by Badr al-Jamali.
Finish at Khan Al-Khalili, the lively and colorful bazaar filled with shops, cafés, and restaurants.

After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
